From the article: Easy Care, Low Maintenance Perennials
Gardeners often feel the need to fuss over their plants, but some plants just want to be left alone to do their thing. Some plants really do seem to thrive on neglect. When you're running around trying to check things off your Garden To Do list, it's nice to have a few undemanding plants that take care of themselves. What low maintenance plants would you suggest including in our gardens? Suggest a Great Plant
Low Maintenance Plants
- SUCCULENTS! They love to be ignored, if you pay attention to them, they go off!

Bolivian sunset
- The lovely leaves are shiny with a vein through the center and pointed tips. The tubular flower is small and red/orange. Will bloom in shade or sun, August until frost. Foliage to 12", flower stalk to 16". Very reliable comeback in Spring.

Verbena and Sweet Pea
- Both grow easily, work well cascading over the garden edge, and the sweet peas grow on trellises, along the ground, and on arbor-type things.

Indoor & Outdoor Low Maintenance Plants
- I have found my indoor lucky bamboo plants and money plant true friends. Kept in transparent glass bottles they hardly require any care except for some cleaning on the leaves and also the refilling of water and they have grown tall too. As for my garden Amaryllis or red lily and the Rajnigandha or tube roses are the best. I think most bulb plants grow well without much care.

Ornamental Grasses
- Any ornamental grass is low maintenance needing only to be cut back in either the spring or fall. They look good in all stages but the best in fall backlit by sunlight.

Low Maintenance Plants
- Daylily -- most daylilies are pest free and drought tolerant once they are established. Multiply quickly and divide easily.

Scabiosa, Butterfly Blue
- One easy growing and low maintenance plant is the Scabiosa, Butterfly Blue. A true blue bloom, long lasting bloom time and all that is needed to keep this perennial blooming is to snip off the spent blooms.
