What I Write About
Gardening in the Canadian Prairies is a challenge at the best of times. As a Certified Floral Designer (25 years) my love of flowers is evident in my floral creations and then in my perennial and annual gardens.
I created my web site in 2009 to document my backyard makeover. Starting in 2008, my husband and I have made tremendous inroads to creating our backyard Caribbean Oasis.
As time goes by, I will continue to add pages to my web site and continue to blog as often as I can updating everyone as to what is going to happen next.
Why I Started My Gardening Blog.
Since my web site allows for the longer instructions and explanations, I wanted a format where I could quickly post an interesting tid bit on a garden show, a new flower discovery, a garden failure or some great gardening tips.
Blogging allows me to share with others the daily trials and tribulations of making over 400 feet of backyard gardens. I can share my 10 foot high limestone waterfall in one post and in another I can post a picture of my sandy beach. I can show everyone an image of my garden gold (compost pile) and in another give away our secret of how to outline a flowerbed.
It's all exciting and fun.
Advice
- I started blogging so that I could share on a regular basis the 'goings on' in my gardens. My blogs are not meant to be steadfast gardening articles. Heck, some people may not agree with my way of gardening. Write about what you like, love. Write often. My preference has always been sites where the writer is enjoying him/herself. Basically they are writing for a conversation and not for a magazine article. Those blogs I skip over. Way too formal for me. Just have fun!
