My gardens now.
I have about 20 plus beds and they keep me extremely busy. I am fighting bermuda grass so it's a challenge.
How I share my love of gardening with others?
I give extra plants to all who want them. It is such a joy to be able to share. I have a lot of friends who share with me and give me a start of different plants.
Who or what inspired me to garden.
When my husband retired from the ministry after about 30 years of moving, we bought a house in bad need of repair and moved back home to North Alabama. My Mom, who was about eighty years old at the time, and my daughter both had beautiful flowers. I had never had any flowers, just never thought about planting flowers. I was a seamstress and worked all the time inside the house. They kept asking me if I wanted some of this plant or that plant and I started a flower bed. Needless to say it has grown to the point my husband has to fuss to have any grass to mow. My Mom and my daughter inspired me.
How I learned to garden.
Mostly from the internet. I look everything up on the internet to see how to care for it. My mom helped me in the beginning but she has passed away and I don't have that source any more. The Lord was merciful and took her home at ninety one years of age. She had Alzheimer's and had fallen and broken shoulder, wrist, hip, and pelvis. It was a blessing to know she didn't have to suffer anymore.
Lessons learned
- I learned that all plants are like individuals, they all have different needs and different characteristics.
