What was the Plant(s)?

An Angel Trumpet, White, and an Elephant Foot Palm

Who Gave it to You or to Whom Did You Pass it Along?

I have the two plants from now decease male friends. One of many plants I took clearing out a friends home after he passed, including palms and this Angel Trumpet. It blooms faithfully, and I finally found a good protected place that it loves and put it in the ground where I am living now. The Elephant Foot, aka Pony Tail palm, was given to me by a friend right after he found out he had lung cancer. He knew that I would keep it alive. He has been gone about eight years and it has been repotted a few times.

What Memories or Stories Surround This Plant?

These two plants belonged to two of my closest male friends, one had a green thumb, one did not. For me it honors their memory. It was the person who gave me the plant that makes them special. I miss both men a great deal and have not found men that I can have a platonic relationship with, like I did these two. They were both very special people.

Advice

  • Don't give plants to people with brown thumbs, it's plant murder.
  • Ask if the want it, or if they have it. Plant collectors are just as bad as any other collector.
  • Trade when possible.
  • If they are bringing it to you, find out where it was and what it needs.
