Garden Photo Challenge

Instructions and Rules for Submitting Entries

By Marie Iannotti, About.com

Following are the rules for the Garden Photo Challenges. These rules are designed to give as many people as possible a chance to participate in the assignments.

Where to Post Your Entries

Post entries in the Garden Photo Challenge entry thread in the forum. You will find it in the “Your Garden Photos” folder. Each challege will have a separate thread, with the month and title of the challege. For Example: "June 09 Challenge - Unusual Containers".

If you need help with how to upload a photo to the forum thread, the Instructions for Posting Images to the Forum are also in the "Your Garden Photos" folder.

Photo Size

Photos must be no larger than 640x480 pixels (horizontal or vertical). Please do not add frames or borders to images.

Labeling Photos

To help us keep things organized, each challenge entry must be marked with an entry number. Since you're allowed up to 5 entries, please label them as "Entry 1", "Entry 2", "Entry 3","Entry 4", or "Entry 5".

Feel Free to Edit the Photos

Photos can be cropped, sharpened, color adjusted, and otherwise cleaned up, but pelase, no collages or blends of more than one image.

How Many Times Can You Enter?

Each person is allowed 5 entries per assignment. However, no more than 1 entry per person can win or place as a finalist per assignment.

Challenge Time Frame

There will be 1 Garden Photo Challenge each month, running from the first day of the month to the last. Posting date and time is automatically stamped when you hit enter

Copyright

Image Content and Copyright

All images must be work safe and comply with the terms of service. Any image that does not meet this guideline will be deleted. By entering a photo in a challenge, you certify that the image is yours and that you own the copyright of the photos and that you have read and will abide by the stated terms of service. You further give permission for all photos entered to be used in accordance with the terms of service, above.

Model Release

If any identifiable people are in your photograph you must email a model release to me at gardening.guide@about.com before the end of the assignment. If you do not have a scanner you can email me the text of the release. However, by emailing the text you certify that you have a signature on file and are able to provide that signature by fax or mail upon request.
