New Annuals and Perennials Available Now for the Garden

By Marie Iannotti, About.com Guide

Gardeners will always have their favorites and their tried and true tested plants, but we all like to grow something new once in awhile. The plants showcased here are new for 2008. Some are available as seed, but many are only being offered as plants, which will make them harder to find. If they prove themselves in gardens, hopefully they will eventually be offered as seed.

Since these are new introductions, it is anyone's guess how well they will perform in your garden. Even though they have all undergone diverse testing, weather, soil and the gardener's skill and dedication can tip the balance one way or another. Still, they are worth a look. Who knows what ideas they might inspire in you? And you can see still more new varieties at the National Gardening Bureau website (www.ngb.org).
