Lavandula angustafolia is one of the most adaptable species of lavender and 'French Perfume' is a new introduction that is getting a lot of attention for its compact size and intense fragrance. 'French Perfume' gets to a height of about 12", making it especially nice for smaller gardens, containers or for planting near an entryway or patio. Although it is a perennial lavender, it will bloom the first year from seed. The flower spikes are a deep purple and very fragrant.

Seeds of Lavender 'French Perfume' are currently available from Renee's Seeds. She recommends starting the plants indoors and moving the out once established. Here's more on growing lavender. (Perennial. USDA Zone 5.)
