Conserving water is a hot topic with gardeners. We're torn between giving our plants the water they need, not wasting water and being a bit lazy when it comes to actually dragging our the hose. Drip irrigation is one excellent way to go. But if you're looking for a good option, this little gadget could be the answer.
Hook up the timer to a soaker hose or a standard garden hose with a sprinkle, turn on the water and the timer's automatic intermittent timing will turn the water on for five minutes, then off for a 10-minute off cycle - repeating for up to three hours. This allows the water to penetrate the soil with less run-off and less evaporation. And no batteries or wires to run.
The Water-Wise Timer is available from Charleys Greenhouse & Garden for $19.95. Phone: 1-800-322-4707.
