Guide Review - JIG-A-LOO Lubricant and Tool Cleaner
Let’s start with the name. It is uncomfortably close to the derogatory jigaboo. However, this is a Canadian product and the name is derived from a Canadian expression, ‘Ti-gi-dou’, which means “I’ve got it!”. If you can get past the unfortunate similarity, you’ll find a really great product.
JIG-A-LOO is one of those products you don’t know you need until you have it. I confess I have always been a big WD 30 fan, but I love the way JIG-A-LOO applies. You have to check to see that it’s there, it’s that dry.
I tried it first on a pair of pruners, while I was cutting up spruce branches. It helped me clean off the sappy gunk that was already on them and greatly reduced further build-up. There might not have been any build-up if I had reapplied.
So I decided to try it on the bottom of my mulching mower. My husband gets very frustrated when I mow the lawn while it’s wet, knowing it’s not just bad for the grass, it’s going to clog the bottom of the mower. Well, JIG-A-LOO can’t help the grass, but it did keep the mower bottom much clearer and made clean-up quicker and easier.
What the heck, I thought, let’s try the stuff on my squeaking glider. It’s not much of a challenge to lubricate the glides, but it was a real treat not to have to wipe up anything that drip onto the floor.
It’s even a freeze inhibitor, so you can use to keep locks and chains from freezing. Or how about spraying your pots before you stack them together for storage, so that they’ll slide apart in the spring.
There are other silicone-based lubricants on the market, but I didn’t know that while trying out JIG-A-LOO. I’ll probably test a few more of them, once my can of JIG-A-LOO runs out. For now I can only tell you that JIG-A-LOO works and it works well.
