Hybrid tea roses, a cross between hybrid perpetuals and old fashioned tea roses, are the most popular rose in the world. Hybrid teas have long been valued for their long, sturdy stems, perfectly shaped flowers and unparalleled fragrance. New varieties of hybrid tea roses are introduced every year, but some classics simply cant be beat. Most hybrid tea roses are reliably hardy from USDA zones 5 - 9.
Here are some long time favorite hybrid teas, by color.
1. Multicolored: Peace
AARS 1945. Another of the most popular roses ever. Perfect form. The large, double blossoms are a bright yellow, edged with soft pink and have a mild, fruity fragrance. Prefers cooler summers and is susceptible to black spot.
2. Red: Mr. Lincoln
AARS 1965. Easy to grow in all climates. Once of the most fragrant hybrid tea roses ever. Large, velvety double blooms.
3. Red: Veterans Honor
A deep, dark red with almost a berry fragrance. Introduced in 1999 to honor the men and women of the American Armed Forces. A portion of the sales go to the Department of Veteran Affairs.
4. Pink: Friendship
AARS 1979. Large, deep pink blooms edged with a wash of red. Can handle a variety of climates and shows good disease resistance. Soft, sweet fragrance.

5. Yellow: Midas Touch
ARS 1994. Prolific blooming tea rose. Double, intense yellow blooms. Easy to grow, climate tolerant and disease resistant.
6. Yellow: Celebrity
Double, rich yellow blossoms throughout the season. Fruity fragrance. Adaptable to many climates.
7. Orange: Tropicana
AARS 1963. One of the most popular hybrid teas with double coral-orange blooms and a strong fragrance. Unfortunately prone to mildew.
8. Orange: Voodoo
AARS 1986. Actually an orange, yellow, red blend. Likes warm summers and shows good disease resistance. Double flowers and strong fragrance.
9. White: Garden Party
AARS 1960. Double, creamy white blooms blushed with pink on the outside. Especially great as a cut flower, with a soft fragrance. This hybrid tea rose prefers hot summers.
10. Lavender: Purple Passion
A relatively new introduction, as classic hybrid teas go,(2000). Dark purple double blossoms have a somewhat lemony scent.
