I live north and right of York in Yorkshire, England. My favourite plant is the Spindle bush. You can keep it clipped shortish. It really comes into its own in the Autumn when it turns to a fiery red before the leaves fall. An absolutely magnificent specimen indeed. Comment by Ken G

  • Zones: 3 - 7
  • Colors: Flowers are non-descript, but the fall berries are red with orange seeds
  • Height: 12 - 30' Width: 10 - 25'
  • Bloom Period: Spring flowers, fall berries
  • Exposure: Full Sun / Partial Shade
  • Notes: This is actually a woody tree, which can still be considered a perennial and, as Ken says, can be kept in check with pruning. Watch out for scale.
