Mulching - I Hate It.
Wednesday May 28, 2008
Yes, I confess, I hate to mulch. My thought has always been, if you need a lot of mulch, you don’t have enough plants. Of course I know all the merits of mulch, but everyone has a garden chore they dread and mine is mulching. I can weed for weeks, but a pile of mulch just screams CHORE. What about you, what’s your absolute least favorite gardening chore. I know we all love to garden, but everyone has some task they’d rather avoid doing. What’s yours?

Lifting out old soil, putting down layers of paper and putting in the next mixture is becoming more difficult. Easier in a big yard because you can take more time. Mulching is good because you see the results in the health of the worms. One has to be in the mood to mulch the strawberries. The pine needles are hard to collect.
My grandfather used to say that weeds are plants that grow where they want rather than where we want….course he liked dandelion greens too!
