I was talking with a friend who tried gardening and gave up in the middle of the summer, because it was more work than she'd expected. That's OK. Gardening isn't for everyone. But it got me thinking about the mistakes and missteps we all make when we first start gardening.
High on the list of my blunders was not honoring the old saying, "Beware of gardeners baring free plants." There are now many plants, the pictured goutweed among them, that make my hands ache just seeing them. I'm still pulling it out.
These are my Top 7 Flower Gardening Blunders. Maybe you have a few to add?

Buying anything from a nursery that came from new zealand. I grows in new zealand for a reason & everything has been invasive.
Accepting shasta daisy starts from my mother in law. She never liked me.
It’s good you can laugh
I don’t think I’ve ever ordered from New Zealand, but I’d bet there’s not a garden out there without a few bad choices in it. We’re all so easily swayed by a pretty face.
just wanted to let you know that your posts are no longer coming thru via google reader.
Thanks, S, I’ll look into it.
