The weather has been dreary here and I need a good hit of vibrant color. Talk about flashy. The leaves of rex begonias positively flaunt their colors. These fascinating little plants make wonderful house plants without having to worry about flowers. Leaves can be multi-colored, patterned or glazed in icy silver. They're a popular plant to collect and if you think 1 begonia is showy, you should see 30 of them scattered about - all with different markings.
If you're looking for a little color in the winter months or if you're lucky enough to be gardening in zones 9 or 10, try growing a rex and see if they start to fascinate you as much as they do me.
