I have a thing for blue. Maybe it's because I don't look terrific wearing it. I will plant any flower that comes close to a true blue. Very often I'm disappointed, but there are also times when I make a delightful discovery. Only once was I successful growing the Himalayan Blue Poppy (Meconopsis betonicifolia ) pictured here . It was a challenge for me, but it was worth it. Here's my list of favorite blue (bluish) flowers. If you have any to suggest, I'd love to hear about them.

your list didnt show, but i sure do like the blue poppy. did you get it from a nursery or a catalogue? im going to look for it! only 37 days till spring and were having a wonderful snowfall today in southeastern ohio.
Could not find list but would love to see it.
Totally understand the blue thing. My English Bluebells give me first shot of blue in the Spring. They start off pinky/purple, but open up to blue. The only other true blue I have here in Chicago is Brunnera. It actually bloomed twice for me last year. Will try that Poppy if I can find it. Thanks
Click on the picture to get the list. Nice choices
I had the good fortune to see a Himalayan blue poppy at Golden Gate Park. Until I saw one in person I always assumed that the photos I had seen of it were doctored like those “blue rose” photos in the less reputable flower catalogs. The poppy is that blue! You are such an ace for growing one.
I would like to add Delphinium “Blue Bird ” to your list of blue flowers. It’s a lovely blue.
List please!
Lobelia is also a great blue flowering plant.
Cape Plumbago!
Lisa – thanks for directions to the list
Sorry about the missing link. I’ve had a cold and been in a fog all weekend. Thanks, Lisa, for pointing out the photo link. I would hate for all of you to miss the blues. These are some of my all time favorite flowers.
