Gardening - Relaxing Hard Work

By , About.com Guide   January 16, 2012

Follow me on:

The Over the Garden Gate December challenge asked readers to tell, in a few words, why they love to garden and today I've featuring another handful of responses. Today's my coldest day of the year (so far) and I'm getting set up to start some of my slow growing seeds, so I need all the inspiration I can get. All the responses are compiled here in the gallery Why I Love to Garden. And don't forget to vote for your favorite photo from the 2011 challenges.

* "I love to garden because it relieves you from any anxiety, especially when you see the hard work that you have done in the garden, flowers bloom and fruit trees bearing fruits." David

* "Fresh air, exercise, wildlife! I love to garden because of the many joys of seeing a seed grow and the humbleness of a failure, (and I thought the computer made me humble)." gardenerbea

* "It's relaxing, yet physical and challenging, but to see what you have created, especially from seed is so gratifying. Things seem to take too long to grow, but the wait can be so worth it." Rudy

* "When I'm working in my gardens I can forget all my aches, pains and worries. ...I always remember that an hour in the garden puts life's problems in perspective". Shelby

My job, running hometipster.com, requires a lot of time sitting down, staring at a computer screen. My garden provides me with a route of escape. It’s the one place I can truly relax, get some great exercise and know that the food on the table is from my labor of love.

Just love my garden!
