I subscribe to a news feed that always tucks in a few articles from the English paper The Telegraph. Sometimes I wonder if they do that just to taunt me. Well the joke is on them. Regardless of the disparity in climates, I always find something applicable to my garden.
For instance, did you know that mice who feed on the mycobacterium in the soil are happier and less anxious? I can't imagine how they know this, but the pertinent thing I learned from it is that these mycobacterium boost the moods of humans who inhale them during outdoor activities, like gardening. It's a great way to counter the effects of less sunlight. I gleaned this and other encouraging tidbits (like turning compost burns 420 calories!) from How to make the most of your time and garden in the colder months. It's well worth a read.

Very interesting.
That may explain why the mice around here are so active;they’re higher than kites on mycobacterium!
It may also explain a few things about me.Gardening makes me feel great!
I’ve always thought it was because gardening puts me in touch with my spiritual side but it may be the mycobacterium.I have been known to stretch flat out in the garden and inhale the earth.Maybe I’m hooked on mycobacterium.Maybe I need mycobacterium anonymous.
It’s uh mycobacteria
Mycobacterium is singular.
You’re right, thank you. Once again cut and paste has gotten me into trouble. I really must learn to spell and/or proof read better. In the meantime, I really appreciate when you guys help me out.
Yes, gardening is great for my mental health! I love the smell of earth!
