Last year I spent my spring moving established plants around to make room for a new vegetable garden.  This year's project is replacing half the front lawn.  I'm doing it partly to cut back on mowing and partly to make room for more shrubs.  They're coming out with so many wonderful new shrubs each year, I can't seem to help myself.

We've had hit and miss nice days in my area, but that hasn't stopped the plants arrival in the nurseries.  You'll find the best selection of plants in spring. So if you've been putting together a wish list all winter, now is the time to start hunting. I also like to drive around at this time of year and remind myself of what could be blooming in my yard if I had planted it last season. David Beaulieu has a lovely photo gallery of spring and summer flowering shrubs. And to entice you further, I've included a 2nd gallery of inspiration with that do triple duty with flowers, foliage and bonus berries.
