Few things in gardening are as disappointing as watching your seeds germinate, only to see them collapse and whither away. Unfortunately, it happens to most of us at one time or another. It's called damping off and it could be caused by a number of rots and molds that eat away at tender young seedlings. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to improve your chances of avoiding damping off and growing your seedlings into plants. You can start by using clean, sterile pots and soil.
