Featured Plant: Kale

Friday March 27, 2009
While we’re all getting impatient for spring to show some backbone, it’s worth remembering that wonderful things can result from cooler weather. OK maybe not this cool, but if you live in an area with a prolonged spring, don’t let the season go to waste. Get some kale plants started so they’re ready to go out in the garden. Like peas, lettuce and spinach, cool weather makes kale grow even sweeter. We may not see a tomato for months, but there’s plenty to harvest to earlier. And don’t let the notion that you don’t know what to do with kale stop you from growing it. There are several easy recipes below, to tempt you.
