Flowering Houseplants Worth a Look.

Tuesday January 6, 2009
Many people shy away from houseplants because it can be hard to provide ideal growing conditions in some homes. But houseplants bring life into a room. As ornamental as houseplants are, many also provide health benefits by purifying the air and increasing humidity. Flowering houseplants add another layer of enjoyment, bringing color and maybe even scent into your decor. And you’d be surprised how some can survive on the most minimal attention. Try your hand at growing flowering houseplants or brighten someone else’s abode, with these 8 flowering houseplants that will thrive with minimal care.

I’ve never tried to grow oxalis as a houseplant, but they are bulbs and need a period of dormancy to regain their strength. Usually the leaves will start to look tired at some point and that’s when you withhold water for about 1 month. The leaves will drop, but the plant will send out new growth when you resume watering.

Another thing to consider is that they need a full sun location indoors, to set flower buds.
