Featured Photos: Richard’s Gourd Bird Houses
Sunday December 28, 2008
Richard, a retired NYC Firefighter living in Staten Island, read my piece on making gourd bird houses. Last spring Richard had been given a few bird house gourd plants by a neighbor. Since a he had the gourds, he figured he’d give it a try. Well Richard’s efforts put mine to shame. I particularly liked his idea of using a twig as his perch and making it look like a bird’s foot. But when he decided to try etching and painting, things went to a whole new level. Isn’t this gorgeous?! I don’t know if I could share this with my birds. This week’s featured photos show the very fast evolution of a gifted bird house maker. Thanks, Richard.
