I’m really excited to be able to start offering you gardening tips from Sonia Uyterhoeven. Sonia is Gardener for Public Education at The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) and she’s acquired a wealth of gardening know-how from her years of training and working at some of the most renowned public gardens. Sonia oversees the NYBG’s Home Gardening Online site and has graciously offered to share some of her tips with our readers. And what better way to start than with roses. The Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, at the NYBG, displays more than 3,000 roses. That’s a lot of pruning. It’s also a great opportunity to learn what plants look and grow best with roses. Sonia lets us in on her top choices of companion plants for roses.
