Gardening Question of the Week: Do You Need to Prune Tomatoes?

Thursday June 26, 2008
Escribe asked in the About Gardening Forum: “I saw something on a gardening show a couple of years ago about suckers on tomato plants - foliage which is non-productive itself, but takes away nutrition from the fruit bearing branches. How do you know which are suckers, and should you snip them off? I don't want to be giving my plants a haircut if they don't need it, but if they do, where to begin?” Here’s where: Too Prune or Not to Prune Tomato Suckers. And if you have any first hand advice for Escribe, please log into the Forum post and share it.
