Got Shade?
Fast-Growing Shade Trees

Monday June 2, 2008
Right about now, I'll bet you're wishing you had planted a shade tree or two - 20 years ago. Large shade trees are invaluable in a landscape. They look imposing and they help shade you, your plants and your home. If you didn't have the foresight to plant your trees a couple of decades ago, here are David Beaulieu's top 3 picks for fast growing shade trees. I can attest to the speed of river birches. We put in a couple of clumps about 6 years ago and they have more than tripled in size. My herb garden is now my shade garden.
