Monday April 28, 2008
Vines are often overlooked by gardeners, because they need some type of structure to climb on. But vines are so multi-purpose and so eager to sprawl and bloom, you should try to find a spot or 2 in your garden to enjoy them. About’s Landscaping Guide, David Beaulieu, suggests using them to disguise unattractive fences, provide shade and even to add fall color. Take a peek at David’s luscious photo gallery of vines. Must have passionfruit. There are many varieties, fruiting and ornamental. (I only grow the fruiting varieties as the bandicoots, who allow us to share their house, eat them.) Star jasmine and local natives are the others I use. (No morning glory – too hard to control)
