More New Flowers & Ornamental Plants for 2008

Thursday January 24, 2008
Hundreds of new plants are introduced every year and their descriptions make them sound so tempting I always wind up starting more seeds than my garden could possibly hold. Part of the problem is that I have to save room for the annuals I count of growing every year, like Salvia ‘Victoria’ and Cosmos ‘Cosmic Orange’. So a new plant really has to have something unique and intriguing going for it and I think these 12 introductions do. These aren’t award winners, like the 3 below, but they are some of the new ornamental plants for 2008 that really caught my eye. Shown here is Calibrachoa 'MiniFamous™ Double Blue', a petunia-like trailing plant you may know as Million Bells or Superbells.

The new rose introductions that were supposed to be posted here have been briefly delayed due to technical issues. They’ll be posted tomorrow and on Saturday, I’ll post my favorite new vegetable introductions.
