Growing Gold Medal Orchids
The 2007 RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Saturday May 26, 2007
Well, we missed the Chelsea Flower Show again this year. One of these years I'm going to get there and witness for myself, the granddaddy of flower shows. Ferne Arfin, About's Guide to the UK for Visitors, did attend and she sent me this fascinating photo gallery of the orchid show. People used to think orchids were very difficult to grow and only of interest to snooty old men like Ellery Queen. While some orchids can be particular, there are others, like the Phalaenopsis, that require minimal care and bloom for months. These days orchid plants are often recommend as house plants for people who neglect their plants. Take a stroll through Ferne's orchid gallery and how much variety there is in the orchid family. Then pick up an orchid plant the next time you need a house warming present.
