Make Your Own Garden Stepping Stones

Tuesday April 24, 2007
I like decorative garden stepping stones, but I l always feel guilty stepping on them. (But then, I've been know to walk around nice rugs.) There are kits you can purchase to create your own stepping stones, but they cost about $20 a pop and look like they could become adictive. About's Guide to Family Crafts, Sherri Osborn, wanted to make stepping stones with here kids and $20 each was more than she wanted to expeiment with. So she looked into what materials were needed and figures it costs about $3 per stone, without a kit. She shares her materials list and some tips for making your own stepping stones, as well as photos of her family's and other readers' finished stones, for inspiration. We have used the lids from cakes and pies from the bakery. Sometimes they will give them to you free.

They are “cruchy” but can be used several times with care.
