Monday April 2, 2007
Most gardeners are also pet lovers, but even a pet lover can become exhasberated when their cat mistake their garden for a litter box. About’s Landscaping Guide has some tips for keeping Fluffy out of your newly tilled soil. If you can plan for this before planting, all the better. But David also has some ideas for scent repellents and plants that deter cats in 10 Cat Repellents: How to Keep Cats Away From Your Yard.

Cats will walk on chicken wire, electric fencing is jumped over or scooted underneath. Everything else is way too much money to spend on keeping cats out of gardens. Easiest, cheapest, and least harmful is apple cider vinegar sprayed where you do not want cats, dogs, or other critters. I live in the country, have nice gardens all around the yard. I spray apple cider vinegar mixed with water every where I do not want animals to be. It works, it is cheap, and non toxic to animals, plants, or self.

There doesn’t seem to be any end to the usefulness of apple cider vinegar. I’ll have to try that.
