Which Perennial Flowers to Cut Back This Spring
Friday February 23, 2007
Spring is slowly creeping in and we're getting tempted to start cleaning up the garden. Just as a reminder, here's a (rather long) list of perennial plants that prefer to be cut back in the spring. Obviously one look around your garden will tell you what needs attention. But in case you're making a to do list or wondering why a certain plant doesn't seem to have made it through the winter, this list is a useful tool.

Thanks for the “TIPS”….Nees help with forcing plants in the Spring. Like Forsythia,Lilacs, Magnolia can they and when is the best time for cuting them and bring them inside to start the forcing process? Thank you.
You can cut branches any time now. Once they’ve had a month or so of dormancy, they’re ready to go. So you start forcing branches in January, weather permitting. There’s a bit more detail at Forcing Spring Flowering Trees and Shrubs.
thanks.
