Creating a Rock Garden
Monday February 5, 2007
I predict rock gardening will soon overtake water gardening in popularity. Rock garden plants and alpines are so intriguing and they virtually take care of themselves. Sedum and Sempervivum jump to mind, but all sorts of slow growing and miniature plants are showcased in a rock garden: Saxifraga, pulsatilla, columbine, dwarf penstemon and daffodils, even dwarf juniper. Don’t let the fact that you don’t have a rocky area stop you from having a rock garden. Take a look over at this illustrated tutorial on How to Build a Small Rock Garden. You can start small or use the same technique to think big. And if you’re really short on space, you can still evoke the feel of an alpine garden with a hyper tufa trough.
