Halloween Au Natural.
Before You Inflate Another 10' Pumpkin,
Look Around the Yard for Halloween Decorating Vignettes.

Monday October 23, 2006
Halloween is David Beaulieu’s favorite time to decorate. Not so much for the spooky aspects but for the harvest theme and because Halloween is approached with such a fun-loving spirit. He suggests we think outside the purchased box and think of Halloween decorating in terms of creative landscaping.

And while I wouldn’t think of celebrating Halloween without carving a pumpkin or two, David is right to point out some Halloween Yard Safety, where it concerns pumpkins. They can be slippery little devils.

A note to all of you who like to carve your jack-o-lanterns on the weekend, David recommends smearing petroleum jelly on the interior and the cuts. This works well, but as you can see, some of my husband’s pumpkins are rather intricate and I’ve taken to spraying them with an antidesicant, like Wilt-Pruf. (I use it on my Christmas tree too.)
