Can You Name This White Lily?

Tuesday February 7, 2006
UPDATE: The very astute HortGuy from the About Forum pointed out that the plant is not a lily at all. I guess that's what happens when you glance at things and say 'Beats Me." He said "From the petal arrangement, morphology of the sexual organs and the foliage this plant is not a member of the genus Lilium. So your probably looking at a crinum or zephyranthes." Thanks for the help, HortGuy.

So if you're up on your crinums or zephyranthes, we'd still like to hear your guesses for this plant that the gardener says "... stays green all year, so it is not one of the so called "magic lilies". It blooms about the middle of June." It's growing in Roanoke, VA. Either email me or log onto the Garden Forum and see what other gardeners guessed.

Looks like a Cardiocrinum to me.
