Winter Garden Escapes

Friday December 30, 2005
Take a holiday break and flip through the sampling of winter garden plants on display at The Mullestein Winter Garden at Cornell Plantations. These plants and shrubs are attractive all year, but never more welcome than during Ithica, NY's long winter. It's a reminder of how wonderful colorful branches, bark and berries can be. Add a few to your spring shopping list and next winter you can flip through the sights in your own landscape. Or take a wnter holiday at Heathcote Botanical Gardens, on the Southeast coast of Florida. December doesn't intimidate this Zone 9b garden, sandwiched between a subtropical climate to the south and a warm-temperate zone to the north. Heathcote enjoys the best of all worlds and shares photos of their Native Plant Garden, Palm & Cycad Walk, Herb Garden, Reflection Garden, Rainforest... Diversity is the keyword here. There should be something to inspire everyone.
