A Touch of the Tropics for Any Flower Garden

Wednesday July 20, 2005
A Tropical paradise doesn't have to be the domain of only those fortunate enough to live in gardening Zones 9 and higher. Gardeners in more temperate zones can enjoy the feel of the tropics, complete with the hot, vibrant foliage colors and brilliant blooms one would expect to see closer to the equator.

Cannas and coleus are quickly becoming garden standards. Neither plant is difficult to grow, and while they will only survive outdoors in frost free areas, there are easy ways to overwinter your prized plants for next year's garden. It only takes a couple of the tropical treats to make a dramatic focal point in any garden.
